Women in Engineering -
“Hear Our Calling”
Inspiring the Next Generation of Female Engineers
Hear Our Calling is a people-led video project created to encourage more young women to consider careers in engineering. Through personal stories and authentic interviews with women working in the field, the film explores different career journeys, challenges perceptions and shows the opportunities available within engineering. The project focused on everyday workplace moments where small interactions can make a meaningful difference, encouraging people to speak up, support each other and create a more respectful working environment.
The Project
Engineering continues to be a field where women are underrepresented, and the aim of the project was to communicate directly with the next generation through the experiences of women already building successful careers within the industry.
Rather than relying on statistics or traditional recruitment messaging, the film puts real people at the centre of the story.
Participants share their experiences, career paths and perspectives in their own words, creating a film that feels personal, credible and relatable.
The Objective
The goal was to create an engaging piece of content that could help inspire young women to see engineering as a career open to them.
The film needed to celebrate the achievements of women already working in engineering while also communicating a simple message: there is no single route into the profession, and there is space for the next generation to make their own contribution.
The Approach
The production was built around authentic interviews supported by carefully captured workplace footage.
Rather than heavily scripting each contribution, the focus was on creating a comfortable interview environment where participants could speak naturally about their experiences, motivations and careers.
Supporting footage placed those stories within the working environment, allowing viewers to see the people, teams and real-world settings behind the profession.
The result combines personal storytelling with professional corporate production while keeping the people and their experiences at the centre of the film.
Real People. Real Career Stories.
A strong testimonial doesn't need to sound scripted.
By allowing participants to tell their stories naturally, the film captures different personalities, experiences and perspectives while maintaining one consistent message.
This approach makes employee-led content particularly effective for recruitment, employer branding and workplace campaigns because audiences are hearing directly from the people who actually live those experiences.
Ideal For:
This style of production works particularly well for recruitment campaigns, employer branding, STEM outreach, graduate programmes, employee stories, career awareness, workplace culture initiatives and internal communications.
